Push Notifications!
Push Notifications Are Here
Never miss a critical moment in Alpha Nation. We’ve just launched push notifications — get alerted the instant something important happens to your country, without having to keep a tab open.
What You’ll Get Notified About
-
Attacks — the moment an enemy hits your country
-
Messages — when a player sends you a direct message
-
Diplomacy — alliance proposals, treaties, and diplomatic updates
-
Economy — market sales, purchases, and trade alerts
How to Enable
-
Look for the “Enable notifications” banner on the Portal, server, or main menu pages or click on your name in the nav bar to get to account settings.
-
Click Enable notifications — you’ll be taken to your Account settings
-
Toggle on Enable browser notifications and grant permission when your browser asks
-
Optionally choose which categories you want alerts for
That’s it. Notifications will start arriving on that device immediately.
iOS Users — Extra Step Required
Apple only allows push notifications in apps installed to your home screen. If you’re on an iPhone or iPad, follow these steps first:
Install Alpha Nation to Your Home Screen
-
Open Alpha Nation in Safari (must be Safari — Chrome and Firefox on iOS won’t work)
-
Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen
-
Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
-
Tap Add in the top right corner
-
Open Alpha Nation from your home screen icon — not from Safari
Once you’ve done that, navigate to Account settings and you’ll see the notification toggle is now available. Enable it and grant permission — you’re all set.
Why is this required? iOS restricts push notifications to installed web apps as a privacy and battery measure. Once installed, Alpha Nation runs in standalone mode and gains full notification support — the same experience as a native app.
Managing Your Notifications
You can update your preferences at any time from Portal → Account → Notifications. Toggle the master switch on or off, or fine-tune which categories send alerts.
If you ever need to re-enable notifications after revoking browser permission, go to your browser’s site settings for Alpha Nation and re-allow notifications, then toggle back on in Account settings.
Troubleshooting
I enabled notifications but I’m not receiving any. Make sure your device’s system-level notification settings allow alerts from your browser (or the Alpha Nation home screen app on iOS). Check Settings → Notifications on your device.
The toggle in Account settings is greyed out. On iOS, this means Alpha Nation isn’t installed to your home screen yet. Follow the install steps above.
I accidentally blocked notifications. In Chrome/Edge: click the padlock in the address bar → Site settings → Notifications → Allow. In Firefox: click the padlock → Connection secure → More information → Permissions → Allow notifications. On iOS Safari (standalone): delete the home screen icon, re-add it, then re-enable in Account settings.
